William Peche, MD, is an assistant professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Utah and a surgeon with the Gastrointestinal Cancers Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.Peche holds board certifications in both general and colorectal surgery. He is director of the School of Medicine's Surgery Skills Lab, where residents learn techniques such as laparoscopy and endoscopy. His research interests include new techniques for hemorrhoid surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, familial cancer syndromes, and outcomes research for colorectal surgery.He completed his undergraduate degree at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and earned a master of science degree in public health from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Peche earned a medical degree from the University of Iowa, completing an internship at Atlanta Medical Center and a residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine, both in general surgery. He also completed a colorectal surgery fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Before joining HCI, Peche was in private practice in Salt Lake City.
