About
Jacob O. Robson
Dr. Robson received his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco, graduating Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) with an area of concentration in medical education. He completed his pediatric residency and a chief residency at the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics (Boston Children’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center) and his pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. He has been recognized with teaching awards in all phases of his career, including the Teri Li Young Educator Award from the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and he has served on multiple national committees involved in developing new training standards for fellows in pediatric gastroenterology. Dr. Robson is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, working within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Dr. Robson’s clinical interests include eosinophilic esophagitis and management of gastrointestinal, liver and nutrition issues in children with cystic fibrosis. His research interests include: 1) diagnosing, tracking and treating eosinophilic esophagitis in children, and 2) analysis of whether meeting early growth benchmarks matches up with better weight and lung function later in life for children with cystic fibrosis. Dr. Robson is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology/Nutrition. He sees patients and performs endoscopy at Primary Children’s Hospital and serves as a gastroenterologist in the multidisciplinary Cystic Fibrosis clinic at Primary Children’s Hospital. Dr. Robson remains active in medical education of trainees at all levels. He is the Doctoring Course Director, a longitudinal course in which 1st year University of Utah medical students develop physician skills, including medical history taking, physical examination and clinical decision making. Dr. Robson is also the Echo Canyon House Director, mentoring and building community for subset of medical students working at the 4th Street Student Led Clinic. Dr. Robson has multiple recent academic publications stemming from his work in medical education, from both his work with early medical students and with pediatric gastroenterology fellows. Dr. Robson also directs a focused elective for 4th medical students (both internal and visiting) in pediatric gastroenterology and the outpatient elective experience in pediatric gastroenterology for pediatric residents at Primary Children's Hospital and he is the chief point of contact for residents doing an outpatient pediatric gastroenterology rotation. He has been active in mentoring fellows in research, serving as the chief mentor for funded research (5 continuous years of full salary + benefits support) for Dr. Andrea McInerny (Cystic Fibrosis nutrition) and Dr. Stephanie Segura (Cystic Fibrosis liver disease).
