Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I have always had a strong interest in working with and helping others while at the same time studying biology and the human condition. Throughout my scholastic and work careers, I have had the opportunity to pursue these interests in many different ways but never to such a personally rewarding extent as I have experienced as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. I believe that every day I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of my patients by instilling hope, fostering healing and improving mental health, which is so important in daily life and for general happiness.
