Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I am attracted to providing health care to families and communities since this involves many skills including education, effective communication of potentially complicated concepts, and demonstration of compassion in dealing with difficult situations. As a nurse practitioner I believe in developing relationships with patients that allow for best possible outcomes, for patients, their families and the communities in which we reside. A healthier individual makes for a healthier family, which in turn helps to develop a healthier community. This is something I want to help create.
