Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: My maternal grandmother and mother were nurses, and I learned early on in life that caring for anyone and everyone was an effortless duty. We camped a lot when I was young, and I was known as the little nurse on duty with my fabricated pink Barbie case transformed into a first aid kit, equipped to cure any bumps or bruises. After 18+ years as a staff RN working for hospitals, managed care organizations and home care, I decided to advance my nursing knowledge and became a CRNP with a focus on adult and geriatric patients.
