Raymond P. Kenny, MD, FACP, FACG, specializes in in liver disease, including chronic hepatitis C and B, autoimmune hepatitis, cirrhosis, and fatty liver. Dr. Kenny's expertise includes colon cancer screening, fine-needle aspiration of pancreatic cysts and cancers, radiofrequency ablation for Barrett's esophagus, endoscopic evaluation and treatment of Barrett's endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), pneumatic dilation for achalasia, stenting for cancers of the bile duct and pancreas, transduodenal cholangioscopy, and endoscopic retrograde removal of gallstones.



An innovator in endoscopic procedures and pioneer in the early use of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), Dr. Kenny is the first gastroenterologist in New Jersey to perform endoscopic ultrasound, treat bile duct stones with laser lithotripsy, and place expandable stents to relieve obstruction of an esophageal tumor. He is the coauthor of articles and abstracts that are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Hepatology, Journal of Laparoendoscopic Surgery, and Gastroenterology. He has been Co-investigator for research projects on hepatitis C.



Dr. Kenny is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is Former President of the New Jersey Gastroenterology Society and he is Former Governor for New Jersey to the American College of Gastroenterology position he held for 3 terms. Dr. Kenny has been a member of the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Expert Advisory Panel, American Liver Foundation Greater New York Chapter Medical Advisory Board, American College of Physicians Executive Council, and Mountainside Hospital Board of Trustees and Medical Board.



A fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Gastroenterology, Dr. Kenny also has been a member of the American Liver Foundation, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Gastroenterological Association, Essex County Medical Society, and American Medical Association.



Dr. Kenny has been the recipient of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America Distinguished Service Award, Mountainside Hospital Family Practice Residency Program Teacher of the Year Award, and Mountainside Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program Outstanding Teacher Award. He is an award recipient and featured physician in New Jersey Monthly "Top Doctor" and Castle Connolly "Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area" listings. His Castle Connolly listings are reprinted in US News and World Report and Inside Jersey.



When he is not working with his patients, Dr Kenny enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, and skiing.
