This is the flagship facility of the nationally-recognized Providence Health system in Columbia, SC. Providence Health was named the #1 hospital in Columbia by The U.S. News and World Report, which also ranked Providence as a High Performing Hospital for COPD, Heart Failure, Hip Replacement, and Knee Replacement.Founded as Providence Hospitals in 1938 by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, Providence is comprised of: two full-service hospitals; one freestanding emergency room; two sleep centers; two cardiac rehab facilities; one outpatient physical therapy, occupational, and speech therapy facility; two cardiopulmonary rehabilitation centers; a cardiovascular imaging school, and numerous satellite physician practices.
