About

Tianna Smith, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Hi I am Tianna Smith! I grew up in North County San Diego and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from San Diego State University. I then moved to Utah for a few years to complete my Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences at Brigham Young University. I started my career as a dietitian in 2012 in Arizona where I worked for multiple eating disorder facilities. I knew instantly that working with clients who struggle with eating disorders and disordered eating was my passion. I also enjoy working with clients who are looking to improve their overall nutritional intake and health through balanced eating and exercise. While in Arizona I had the opportunity to work with clients in all levels of care, including inpatient treatment, residential treatment, partial hospitalization treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, and outpatient counseling. I have also created nutrition programs for multiple eating disorder programs in Arizona and California. I have experience and enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Primary Specialty

Eating Disorders Counseling

Services I have extensive experience working with clients who struggle with eating disorders and disordered eating. I also commonly work clients who are looking to improve their overall nutritional intake and health through balanced eating and exercise, including children and adolescence. I use a direct, yet gentle approach when helping my clients navigate food. It is my hope that my clients will learn how to properly nourish their bodies by consuming balanced nutrition that is realistic and appropriate for their individual needs. I educate clients on intuitive eating(when appropriate), and I encourage clients to choose foods that genuinely sound appetizing.
I use a non-diet approach and view all foods as neutral, rather than good versus bad, and I encourage mindfulness when making food choices and eating. Clients are encouraged to try to begin the process of connecting with their bodies by assessing their hunger and satiety cues.

I love using hands-on experientials with my clients so they can see for themselves that food and nutrition can be pleasurable and fun. I am passionate about helping others see that developing a healthy relationship with food is possible.
