Complaint against Dr. Charles Sarosy, M.D. (Lic #G 64236) & Sarah Maxwell, AAS, CPC, MA Exec. Administrator & Cosmetic Surgery Consultant. I contracted w/ SD Body Contouring to have my breast implants & capsules removed & a lollipop lift. My complaint is Dr. Sarosy performed a surgery other than what was agreed upon, has not fulfilled follow up care & has abandoned me as a patient. Sarah performed a medical procedure on me that she’s not licensed to do & gave me Rx drugs w/o an Rx. During my initial consult w/ Sarah on 2/5 she stated I have capsular contracture. Sarah also stated Dr. Sarosy could remove the capsule at the same time & do a lollipop lift. The price included follow up care for 1 year post surgery. After I left that day I had more questions so I emailed Sarah & asked if that price included the capsules being removed & she replied “Yes”. I went back in to meet Dr. Sarosy, w/ my husband, to go over all details on 2/17. At that appt. we went over the same details, we discussed that he would remove the implants & capsules during the surgery & perform a lollipop lift. I decided to proceed & scheduled the surgery for 3/12. At my pre-op appt. on 3/9 w/ Dr. Sarosy & Sarah I again confirmed he would be removing the capsules & he said yes. He assured me it wasn't a problem to remove them. He again discussed a lollipop lift & we signed all forms. The morning of my surgery on 3/12 Dr. Sarosy came in the pre-op room, where we were waiting, to make his marks for the incisions & did not mention it would be an anchor lift. There was no mirror in the room so I did not see these markings prior to surgery & not being familiar w/ what all the markings meant we did not ask questions. I now know that he was marking for an anchor lift & I was not told this until after the surgery was completed. I had never heard of an anchor lift prior to this. After my husband left I was taken in to the operating room & as I laid on the operating table going over details w/ the nurses I again asked to confirm he would be removing the capsules. One of the nurses went to ask him & then returned to say that "yes, he will be removing them, no problem". At my follow up appt. the day after surgery (3/13) I asked Dr. Sarosy if the implants were intact or ruptured, if they looked normal & if he got all of the capsules; his answer was a short "yes, everything went fine". I asked again at my next follow up appt. on 3/20 if he got all of the capsules out & he answered "yes". My recovery from surgery has not been easy, I had to return the same day of the surgery for excessive bleeding which Dr. Sarosy had an assistant tape. I had 2 infections & a hole that opened up on my right side. I was treated by Sarah Maxwell in the Temecula office on 4/8, however I cannot find her medical training. She cleaned my wound, pulled sutures & packed it, then gave me a Z-pak for the infection. My scars are painful, large & deep red & purple. I have blood blisters that arise along the incision lines & a persistent red rash all over my chest & neck. On 6/3 I requested all photos including those of my implants & capsules that were removed during surgery & all medical records. It took nearly 2 months & multiple requests but I finally received them on 7/27. When I read the records I found no mention of the capsules so I emailed again & she said that Dr. Sarosy said I didn't have any capsules so he didn't have to remove them. In these reports I also learned that there was an Assistant in the surgery named C. Powell. I don’t know him so I looked him up & learned he is another surgeon at SD Body Contouring. I was never introduced to him or informed that he would be a part of the procedure. I am disturbed to learn this man was there & I was never made aware of him. I don’t know what role he played in my operation. (Lic #5426). I have been lied to & the procedure performed is contradictory to all conversations. They have abandoned me & left me w/ emotional distress, deformation & pain.
