John Lister

Dr. Lister is Chief of the Division of Hematology and Cellular Therapy, AHN Cancer Institute. He is an experienced transplant physician who participated in his first bone marrow transplant in 1979. Since that time, he has been involved in more than a thousand transplants and has contributed to many clinical studies and made original contributions in the literature. Dr. Lister received his initial exposure to marrow transplantation as a trainee at McGill University and received further training at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Subsequently, as Terry Fox Fellow of the National Cancer Institute of Canada, he received additional clinical and laboratory training in marrow transplantation at the Ontario Cancer Institute/Princess Margaret Hospital at the University of Toronto. He returned to McGill and actively participated in transplant for the next five years before accepting a position in the Division of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at The University of Pittsburgh. In 1997, he joined the faculty at West Penn Hospital. Dr. Lister is a Professor of Medicine, Temple University School of Medicine, and serves on numerous scientific and administrative committees, including the Lymphoma Committee of the CIBMTR. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Western Pennsylvania.
