Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

I chose Gastroenterology as I think it is a good blend of the art and science of medicine. I enjoy the challenges we face daily and the variety of illnesses we are able to diagnose and treat. I like that we are often able to improve a patient’s condition and the relationships that I build with my patients as we try to solve and treat their problems.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

I don’t have a specific specialty within GI, but I enjoy the variety of conditions that we are able to diagnose and treat.

Where did you study?

Undergrad: Baylor University, Medical School: University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Residency: Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine, GI Fellowship: University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

My family and I enjoy traveling and often head to the outdoors visiting State and National Parks. We enjoy seeing our extended family much of whom live in Texas. I am a huge music fan with a large music collection. I like to run and exercise. I enjoy photography, especially when we go hiking. I read books on history, church history, the Bible and commentaries on the Bible. My family and I regularly attend church and participate in church activities.
