Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

I enjoy the variety of taking care of patients and doing procedures. My father is also a gastroenterologist, so I guess part of my decision to practice gastroenterology and hepatology was genetic.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

Liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and clinical research.

Where did you study?

Undergrad: University of Texas-Austin, Medical school: University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio, Internal Medicine Residency and GI Fellowship: University of Texas Southwestern.

What certifications do you hold?

Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

Playing tennis, basketball, running, biking, exercising and watching the San Antonio Spurs play.

Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?

Former leadership positions: Chief of staff: Nix hospital, Chief of Gastroenterology: Christus Santa Rosa City Center, Physician Leadership Council at Baptist Medical Center, Member of the Board of Directors South Texas Regional Medical Center, Outstanding Clinical Teacher at Christus Santa Rosa Westover Hills Family Medicine Residency Program. I am also currently a member of the Executive Board of TDDC
