Dr Shelfo received his Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Medicine degree in six years rather than eight years through an accelerated biomedical program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. During medical school, Dr Shelfo received numerous awards for academic achievements in anatomy, biochemistry and pharmacology. He also was awarded the Dean’s Certificate for outstanding research endeavor.
