December 21, 2020 I scheduled well child checkups for all three of my children at Cook Children’s The Morris Clinic with provider Dr. Maria del Pilar Levy, to voice some serious concerns I had mostly about my oldest son. My children all had appointments one at 8:45 another at 9:00 and the last appointment 9:45 I scheduled two on the Mychart portal, my two boys have been patients of Dr. Levy since birth, the third was scheduled by a employee. I put in a request for the third visit on Mychart because my daughter was coming in as a new patient to Dr. Levy. Fast forward to the morning of my three children’s appointments February 22, 2021. I checked in at 8:31a.m. exactly four minutes later I received a phone call from the receptionist or nurse which went on for 25min. I informed her that all three of my children have appointments not just two she checks, indeed it was so, she then proceeded to tell me that they (the clinic) have a policy in place that states only two siblings at the same time can be seen per day due to COVID-19, however that’s not what is stated on Mychart nor is it on Cook Children’s website. Mychart and Cook Children’s website states specifically (“Siblings will not be able to attend appointments unless they have an appointment as well.”) again due to COVID-19. The receptionist informed me that we would have to reschedule, after explaining I wasn’t informed, it’s only me with my three children, all three have appointments. I’m absolutely livid and completely mortified because my oldest son have been struggling with multiple issues that he has no control over. For two agonizing months we’ve waited, just when I thought finally we were going to get some answers regarding what is going on with my child. Again no where is this said policy written on Mychart or Cook Children’s website. I didn’t receive a phone call from a staff member alerting me of this policy prior to the day I’m sitting in the parking lot. Your own employee herself stated that it isn’t a policy that’s disclosed on any public forums. So how exactly could we have been prepared for this incident? I am very disappointed with this whole ordeal, the receptionist tried to reschedule for almost another two weeks out. At that point I just said forget I had to end the conversation and honestly I may possibly find another provider because this situation was absolutely unacceptable, I honestly don’t trust if my child will be properly cared for at this point. Two months of waiting for absolutely nothing. Sorry doesn’t cut it, I don’t want sorry, my children didn’t receive the care that Cook Children’s stand behind, we have no answers regarding the concerns I have about my child that could’ve been answered at this appointment. I feel this is negligence on the part of The Morris Clinic, my child has to continue to suffer because the failures of others. I’ll proceed to take this as high as I need to until this issue is remedied, this shouldn’t happen to anyone else again
