A New York native, Dr Levitan attended the City University of New York. After receiving his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, he completed both his medical internship and ophthalmology residency at the Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn. He concluded his full-time training in 1991 with a vitreoretinal fellowship at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr Levitan served as the Retinal Service Director of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, as well as a clinical assistant professor.
