About
Reto Baertschiger
As a pediatric surgeon, I care for children in a family-centered, respectful, and age-appropriate environment. I emphasize child-centered communication. The child's well-being is always at the center of my care. I ensure that my patients and their parents or guardians understand and agree with every step of the process and care plan.
I enjoy working collaboratively with children, their families, and their care team. As a team, we care for children of all ages with many types of surgical problems. We've treated premature children who weighed less than a pound and teenagers who were taller than the surgeons. I also have a special interest in surgical oncology and trauma, which both involve collaborating with many different team members.
Ultimately, my goal is a smiling child with a happy family. It is an honor to take care of children. Receiving parents' trust to operate on their child is a significant responsibility and gift.
