He then was elected to serve an extra year as chief resident. Thereafter, he completed an additional three years of gastroenterology & hepatology fellowship training at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine / Jackson Memorial Hospital where he performed more than 1900 various endoscopic procedures.
