Shingles Vaccine (Zostavax)

Anuradha Reddy, M.D.

The Zostavax injection, a new vaccine that helps reduce the risk of contracting Herpes Zoster (shingles) in patients 60 years and older, is currently available at our office. However, this vaccine is considered preventative care and is currently NOT a Medicare benefit.

In order for Zostavax to become a benefit, Congress would need to amend the Medicare law to expand preventive benefits coverage.

In order for you to receive this injection ask your doctor if you are a candidate. Since this is not a covered benefit we do require an upfront payment that starts at $200, depending on your insurance.
