About

Sherry Hopkins, MS, LMFT

Sherry Hopkins, MS, LMFT, specializes in individual, couples and family therapy and maintains a private practice in St. Louis, MO.

Sherry has always had a passion for working with couples experiencing turmoil in their relationships resulting from infidelities, communication problems, or life cycle transitions, and a majority of her clinical experience was spent working with parents adjusting to the challenges of parenting, and specifically raising a special needs child. In her practice she has the privilege of serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among Sherry's areas of expertise are relationship issues, parenting styles, communication problems, and the exploration of the whole self. All of her years as an artist, wife and mother combined with her knowledge of family systems enables Sherry to offer a unique and creative way of blending counseling theories and techniques to meet the needs of her clients.

As an engaged, emotion-focused therapist, Sherry's approach is to explore the varying degrees of emotional pain, loss, loneliness, and yearning for comfort that can be disguised by actions masking those feelings through being defensive, angry, and emotionally distant. Integrating complementary methodologies and techniques allows her to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, Sherry works with each individual, couple, and family to help them build on their strengths to attain the personal growth and relationship satisfaction they are committed to achieving.

=I can say without exaggeration that the happiness that I feel in my life right now is a result of the work that I did under Sherry's guidance. I started seeing her, as many people do, at my life's rock bottom. She carefully and gently guided me through the process of seeing myself as a wholehearted human who is worthy of love.
Sherry is an excellent listener who will not send you home with chiched "solutions" to your problems. Instead, she will work to connect with you. She will empathize with you. She will validate you. And she will give you the skills and tools you need to change your life for the better.

If you're reading this review, it's because you need help. I'm telling you -- you've found it. She's the real deal.
