About

Jon Stange, Bodyworker, Massage Therapist

My name is Jon Stange and I am the owner/practitioner at Inner Light Manual Therapy in Santa Monica, CA where I specialize in advanced bodywork and massage therapy services. I began my career as massage therapist in 1995 after graduating from the Central Coast School of Body Therapy where I was trained in basic Swedish massage. Upon receiving my diploma I started an independent mobile massage business serving private clientele as well as community health & wellness businesses. Over the course of 10 years I studied various forms of massage before settling on specific deep tissue work and sports massage. In 2005 I was introduced to structural bodywork based on the teachings of Dr. Ida P. Rolf PHD who developed a step by step protocol of deep manual therapy and movement education that improves the body-structure and fluid joint movement. In 2007 I enrolled at the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, CO where Dr. Rolf's original work is taught by some of her early students. In 2008 I graduated with a diploma in Structural Integration and began my private practice in Santa Monica.

Services Inner Light Manual Therapy's primary service is Structural Integration (Rolfing) bodywork. It is a method of manual therapy that helps to improve the body-structure (posture) and fluid joint movement. SI works with the body's connective tissue system called fascia which is a strong webbing of collagen fiber that wraps and shapes our bodies as well as supports the internal structures of bones, muscles and internal organs. The integrity of our fascia can become compromised due to injury, physical and emotional trauma, poor posture, surgery, stress, joint dysfunction and repetitive motions. It will thicken and become glued-down limiting freedom of movement. SI uses slow, deep muscular pressure to unwind and loosen connective tightness in certain areas of the body, it is a process of changing the structure so it can find and use a more natural balanced posture with ease of movement. We also have various massage therapy modalities including: deep tissue, sports and Swedish for total rejuvenation and relaxation.
