About

Betsy Sansby, MS, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Individual, couple, and family therapy, with special expertise working with family groupings: mothers and fathers and their adolescent children and adults. Currently, the focus of my work is on teaching clients how to be more mindful, loving, and deliberate in their expression of difficult feelings. This involves recognizing patterns of reacting that contribute to success and failure in important relationships.

"Betsy was the only one who grabbed my flailing hand and pulled me out, and kept me from drowning. I'll never forget it!"-Client-

A note from Betsy:
When you're really struggling, you need more than a good listener. You need someone who can sort through the details fast, and get you moving in a healthier direction as quickly as possible.
You can expect me to:

-- Ask direct questions

-- Notice what others miss

-- Tell you what I really think

-- Care about your well-being

-- Insist you do your homework

-- Make each step as easy as possible

Don't expect me to:

-- Sit and nod

-- Agree with you all the time

-- Avoid difficult topics

-- Work harder than you do

-- Perform miracles very often

Once we identify the patterns of behavior and habits of mind that are causing you problems, we'll come up with a plan for how to change them. Each time we meet, we'll talk about what's working and what isn't, and I'll give you concrete tools you can take home and practice with between sessions, so you're always making progress--even when I'm not around.
