About

Karen Moreau, PhD

We specialize in all aspects of addiction. We work with individuals seeking recovery; relapse prevention; life skills and anger management. We also specialize in working with the family members of addicts caught up in the difficult decision of how to help their loved ones while at the same time helping themselves.

Dr. Karen Moreau will begin her 31st year of recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction on January 1, 2013. She has been a leader in the field for many years. In 2009, she founded the Treatment Providers Alliance of Colorado (TPAC). She served as President of TPAC for 4 years. She currently serves as Past President. In June 2012, she was recognized by her peers for her leadership skills and awarded the Excellence in Leadership award at the annual dinner of the Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals (formerly known as SAAC).

Dr. Moreau earned her masters degree and PhD after she sobered up. She frequently tells her students that her alcoholism is not to be thought of as "horrible". Rather it should be thought of as "important" because it allowed her to know not only her strengths but also her limitations. She learned that she could not do it alone and that others were there to help if she were willing to ask for it and receive it. She is a member of the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous and still works an active recovery..

We offer counseling in mood disorder, trauma, adhd and anger management and grief counseling.

All therapists who work at Addiction Treatment Outpatient Services

What a mean spirited, callous person. Avoid, avoid, avoid. There are many more qualified, decent counselors out there. Vile.
