About

Becki Lanham, CMT

My name is Becki Lanham, owner of Hands with Heart. I am certified as a massage therapist through the Virginia Board of Nursing and have been nationally certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork since 2006. I am also a practicing reflexologist.

I love providing therapeutic massage to others! The majority of my working career has been spent in medical settings, so I typically provide a more medically based massage. I use my 10 years of experience and combine a variety of learned techniques to create a warm, relaxing, and well-balanced treatment every session. My love for the work I do has pushed me to continue to grow in alternative health care. I find great joy and fulfillment in helping others and am fully committed to encouraging them to achieve the holistic, natural and pain-free life that they deserve.

Services Swedish Massage
Relaxes your mind while improving circulation for the entire body. Swedish massage uses a combination of strokes and pressure-point work for overall balance and relaxation. This type of massage provides superficial, general bodywork.

Deep Tissue Massage
A stronger, more invigorating massage, this treatment provides exceptional relief for chronic muscle tension and is highly effective for stress reduction. Deep tissue massage requires point-specific work and deep muscle manipulation. This method is an excellent way to prepare for, and recover from, physical activity.

Prenatal Massage
This gentle and nurturing treatment offers the perfect combination of numerous modalities to address muscular dysfunction and pain in the ever-changing body of the expectant mother. It is highly recommended to receive massage throughout all stages of pregnancy, including postpartum.

Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a holistic treatment that has a profound effect on the body’s connective tissue. The connective tissue, or fascia, is a densely woven covering that surrounds every muscle, bone, nerve, and organ down to the cellular level. Injuries, stress, trauma, and poor posture can cause restriction to your body’s fascia, which causes pain and reduced range of motion. By applying pressure and gently stretching the strained tissue, the tension is released and pain can be eased.

Trigger Point Therapy
During your trigger point therapy session your therapist will effectively locate and deactivate trigger points, localized tender areas or ‘knots’ in your body’s soft tissue. By applying pressure to these specific points, your muscles will be slowly re-educated to return to and remain in their naturally relaxed state. This re-education of muscle tissue helps to eliminate pain, increase range of motion and flexibility, and increase circulation by introducing new blood flow to the previously restricted area.

Reflexology
Reflexology is not only beneficial for your tired feet, but brings rejuvenation to your entire body. Start with a detoxifying foot soak to melt away stress. Then, by massaging and applying pressure to acupressure points of the feet and toes, balance is restored, stimulating physical healing and well-being in all body systems.

Becki is quick to respond with questions and I was able to feel a positive difference in the tension of my muscles after my first visit. Years of tension and pain due to an old injury really began to feel relief without the aid of muscle relaxers! My doctor had been recommending I seek a deep tissue massage and I am so pleased I sought out and chose Becki. Her personality is warm and will put you at ease. She seems to really enjoy her work as an extension of herself and that makes it a pleasure to use her service. I would be glad to recommend Becki to all!
