About

Alison Maule-Kronmiller, Phd., L.P.

It is difficult to assess how comfortable you might feel with different therapists unless you try out the working relationship with a provider. There are many qualitative aspects of different therapists that are not easily translated into a written description. For this reason I encourage all of my clients to consider the first few sessions as a trial. The initial appointments are devoted to me listening to you tell me what is. I am a licensed doctoral level psychologist and provide mental health services to those seeking help for an array of mental health issues and concerns. My clients are as varied and unique as the treatment plans I develop with them to improve the quality of their lives. Although the approach I use with each individual is unique to their life circumstances, their needs, and their values, a similar thread runs through the treatment that I provide to all my clients. Specifically, my job is to make the work that I do with each of them obsolete. To do so requires a certain amount of transparency about the therapy process, what it is and how and why it works. Providing structure and support to learn and begin using new tools is a vital part of the work, but would not be possible without a therapeutic relationship built upon respect, honesty and realistic optimism. Although some exceptions are made for individuals with more chronic needs, for most clients a relatively brief episode of therapy provides them with new ways to think about and respond to old problems and results in greater life satisfaction. Merriam Park Psychological Services (MPPS) provides a safe, comfortable environment for those with counseling and mental health needs. Services provided include assessment, treatment, and referral for individuals with a wide range of needs and concerns. Clients are as varied and unique as the treatment plans that are developed with them to improve the quality of their lives. Although the approaches that are used with each individual are specific to their life circumstances, their needs and values, a similar thread runs through the treatment of all clients. Specifically, at MPPS there is value in making our work with each individual client obsolete. To do so requires a certain amount of transparency about the therapy process: what therapy is and is not, and how and why it works. Education and understanding about the therapy process provides a structure on which to build growth and also increases clients ability to apply learning from the clinical experience into real life situations. Providing education, structure and support to learn and begin using new tools is a vital part of the work, but would not be possible without a positive therapeutic relationship built upon respect, honesty, trust, and realistic optimism. Although some exceptions are made for individuals with more chronic needs, for most clients a relatively brief episode of therapy provides them with new ways to think about and respond to old problems and results in greater life satisfaction. Providers at MPPS include Alison Maule-Kronmiller, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist and David Kronmiller, M.A., Licensed Psychologist.
