I DO NOT RECOMMEND DAVE MCCLAIN. I took my dog to Dave McClain back in 2013 after being referred by my dog's massage therapist. My dog was 12 at the time and arthritic with back issues. Dave watched my dog walk around for about a minute and then pushed down on his back several times. My dog seemed ok so we went home and I rested my dog the rest of the day as recommended. I did not allow my dog to do any jumping or rough play. The next day on our walk, I noticed my dog was really "hoppy" in the front. I called Dave a week later because this hoppiness continued to persist, and Dave said bring my dog back. I did. Same result. When I asked my dog's acupuncture vet about it, she suspected Dave had jammed my dog's spine. I never went back.

I happened to talk to another dog/human chiropractor a year later and he said Dave was being sued after chiropractic work he performed on an animal. I'm not surprised. He did very little evaluation on my dog before going up to him and forcibly pressing down on his back end several times.

I will never take an animal to a chiropractor again, especially an old dog with chronic arthritis and back issues. Moving bones around is not a quick fix, especially when there are chronic compensation patterns in muscles and soft tissue. Chiropractors will tell you otherwise, but it seems to be a crap shoot, just as it is with people. IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA.

My little Papillon tweeted his back before a competition. Dr. McClain gave him an adjustment and my guy was good as new!
