David Lowenstein DC, LAc, MD (China) - Dipl. Acupuncture & Asian Bodywork Therapy (NCCAOM) - has over 30 years experience practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Zen Shiatsu and Manual Therapies as an Arizona licensed Acupuncturist and Chiropractic Physician. Dr. Lowenstein has been serving Arizona in the same area since 1991. His credentials include being Nationally Certified as a Diplomate in both Acupuncture and Asian Bodywork Therapy with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and a Certified Instructor of Zen Shiatsu with the American Organization for the Bodywork Therapies of Asia.

Dr. Lowenstein is a graduate of the Ohashi Institute and was certified to practice Shiatsu in 1983 by world renowned Shiatsu Master Wataru Ohashi. He began his formal study of Shiatsu in 1976 and studied with many Masters of Shiatsu and Tuina and has been awarded the highest designation possible as a Certified Instructor and Practitioner of Zen Shiatsu , registered with the American Organization for the Bodywork Therapies of Asia - AOBTA. As a founding member of the AOBTA, he was a past President and Vice-President with a lifetime membership status.

Dr Lowenstein completed a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture at Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture. As a Graduate Associate at Ohio State University he received a Master of Arts Degree in Human Movement Analysis; researching the health benefits of Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong. Dr. Lowenstein was the recipient of the prestigious Gonstead Scholarship; awarded as a full scholarship for his Doctor of Chiropractic education at Cleveland Chiropractic College.

At New York University for his PhD program, Dr. Lowenstein received a SEHNAP Fellowship to research, apply and evaluate various Manual Medicine Therapies, completing an internship in Movement Therapy at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, New York. Dr. Lowenstein is a Certified Movement Analyst, having completed the year long post graduate training in Movement Analysis at the Laban/Bartenieff Center for Movement Studies in New York City.

Dr. Lowenstein went to China where he spent over a year and a half practicing and studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in hospitals and clinics in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai , Wuxi and Shenzen. He completed an internship in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the famous Tongren Hospital in Beijing and was awarded a license to practice Rehabilitation Medicine in China at Shanghai Dong Fang Lian He Hospital. Additionally, Dr Lowenstein completed advanced clinical training in Acupuncture and Moxibustion at the Beijing Traditional Medicine Training Center of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies (WFAS. At TianTan Park in Beijing Dr Lowenstein practiced and refined his skill in Qi Gong and Tai Chi Chuan in the true traditional Chinese way.

Dr Lowenstein worked as a China licensed Physician in Shanghai China Dong Fang Lian He Hospital and later as Director of Rehabilitation Medicine at Puhua International Hospital in Beijing, China. From his experiences with many Chinese Masters of the Healing Arts he gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and skills in the practice of Traditional Chinese medicine. Over the past 30 years Dr. Lowenstein has taught courses at universities, colleges and schools throughout the USA in Oriental Medicine and Manual Medicine Therapies to include Acupuncture , Zen Shiatsu, Tuina, Sotai, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy, Trigger Point and Neuromuscular Therapy techniques.

Dr. Lowenstein is a Primary Care Physician, state licensed by both the Arizona Acupuncture Board of Examiners and the Arizona Chiropractic Board of Examiners.
