Rob Benson, MS, LPC-S, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervis
My training and experience promote a diverse approach during therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor; Certified Family Life Educator; Board Certified Christian Counselor; and certified by the Veterans Administration in treatment of trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. I have a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Life from Concordia University. At University of Michigan Business School, I completed the Advanced Human Resource Executive Program, and worked in related corporate areas for 30 years. Outside of counseling, I am a 30 year commercial airline pilot; and a veteran, having served 10 years in the United States Air Force.
My approach to psychotherapy is to select best practices in counseling theory to support client growth. Especially helpful is an understanding of family systems: relationships, effective functions, loss and recovery. A Christian-based, solution-focused approach offers positive orientation and hope. Together, these approaches encourage growth and a healthy outlook; results that emerge gradually, cumulatively and continuously.
