I have been using West Ridge animal hospital for over 15 years, I had to take my cat Blackie in even though I had no appointment they still took her. Why (Money) They charged me $750 dollars to do blood work only to tell me she had cancer and would only live maybe a month. Erin the vet who looked at her was especially nice and did explain the charges. I love my animals and have no problem with the cost or the fact it did not turn out well. Thanks, Erin, for a job well done.
Now two months later I take my new kitten Cali in for spay and vaccination.
I took in a voucher from the humane society that cost me $30 and West ridge would only honor $30. What a waste of time. I set up an appointment which was over 20 days out so on the 5th of Dec I arrived with Cali at 8:45 am. Everyone in there was new to me and they were all trying to help each other figure out their computer system. One of the lady's finally asked if I could help you. I said yes, I am here for my appointment for Cali. Dear in the headlight state. Then she again goes to help the other lady on the computer. After several minutes she got back to me and proceeded to tell me all the things that a responsible pet owner would do and presented me paperwork to check the items yes or no. One of the items was blood work before doing anything (remember the last $750 dollar charge) .I said no then they asked about a cone, or a body wrap again not cheap. I chose the body wrap because the vet recommended it since cats do not do well with cones. When I finally picked up Cali, she had a cone. I was told they were out of body wraps. Cone was over $20, and Cali had it torn off before I left the parking lot. Again, something I did not want.
I was told they would call me when Cali was ready to go home sometime around 3:00 pm. by 4:00 Pm I went back to the office with the same deer in the headlight stare. Can I help you?
I counted to ten and said yes is Cali done? She said let me go check and she comes back and tells me Cali is still in recovery. Umm 30 min operation 7 hours later why the hell did I bring Cali in at 8:45. So I said OK, went back out to my truck and waited. Finally, just before their closing time I went back in and the first thing the lady told me was for an additional 1
$15 I could leave Cali overnight; I said no thank you I will wait. When the Vet (Will)again never saw him before came out he told me Cali had a weird face and her eyes went like a copper color and her heartbeat went really fast, but she was ok and came through the operation (Spay) ok. Then he too started telling me he would like me to let him do blood work. Now this is a very healthy 5-month-old kitten.
Conclusion I paid the bill $186.00 thanked them and said so where is Cali? They told me one second, we will go get her. Ten minutes later both ladies are shooting the breeze with each other, and the Vet (Will) comes back again. I asked do you want to bring me Cali?
By now because I am 74 and have been told not to drive at night it's dark out, starting to get foggy and the roads are freezing again (black ice) I had to really control myself to stay calm. Well instead of Will going to get Cali another man came in and Will started a conversation with him after several mins at the top of my voice a yelled hey are you going to go get my cat or what. Will turned and went and got Cali. After starting out I stopped, turned and told them that after spending over $1000 dollars in two months and being a customer of their overpriced business, I would not be back and that I would tell everyone I know there only there for the money they could care less about your pet. My suggestion: find someone else even if you have to go to Medford.
I might also add I was only told the bill was $186.00 I never got a receipt or an itemized bill. Ummm. I paid with a credit card, so I had a receipt but not itemized.
