HATHA YOGA & HATHA FLOW
Hatha is the most common branch of yoga practiced in the United States. Hatha is derived from the Sanskrit words for sun (Ha) and moon (tha), which suggests the goals of balance and harmony between opposites. It is considered the mother of many other forms we know today. In the Hatha classes at The Yoga Place you will find a focus on breath and alignment with an emphasis on allowing your body to move through the postures gently.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
The Hatha Flow classes are appropriate for any level of yoga with a basic understanding of the postures. You will develop self-awareness and a calm mind along with increased flexibility and enhanced state of well being.
VINYASA YOGA
This vigorous style of yoga consists of a continuous series of postures which are linked together with fluid connecting movements. Vinyasa is the marriage of breath and movement. The practice is synchronized with careful attention to breathing to build internal heat. Expect to feel cleansed, recharged, and more alive!
GENTLE YOGA
This class is focused on a relaxed pace and a more gentle approach to postures, breathing, and guided relaxation. Relax your mind, increase energy, and reduce stress. For beginners and experienced students who want a slower paced, less strenuous class.
BEGINNER
In this class we will begin to explore postures and movement linked with breath. We will focus on building steady and safe alignment, as well as developing inner body awareness and compassion. This is an ideal class for those who are new to a yoga practice or those looking to go back to basics and develop deeper knowledge around each pose.
MODERATE
This upbeat class will build upon students knowledge and experience by utilizing various sequences of postures and breath. We will explore new postures while offering modifications to make the practice accessible to everyone. With a steady flow of breath and movement, you will develop strength and stamina in your yoga practice.
POWER YOGA
In this strenuous class, participants move from pose to pose with the focus on breath and alignment. It is a mind-body workout designed to improve strength and flexibility and provide stress relief. Advanced poses, arm balances and inversions may be included. This class is not recommended for beginners, as this class requires strength, stamina and knowledge of poses.
YOGA RYTHMS
This dynamic class features a flow of breath and movement set to rhythmic music. You will stretch and strengthen as you move and flow with the pulse of the sound around you. The class will warm and energize your body, clear and settle your mind, and rock and roll your soul.
HOT HATHA YOGA
The Hot Hatha Yoga class is recommended for everyone, from first day beginners to advanced students. The magic of this class is that everyone is practicing the same posture at different levels of ability, receiving the same benefits. There is an exact position for everyone at every level, which our trained instructors will help you find.
HOT VINYASA
This class incorporates Asanas from our lineage into a Vinyasa (continuous flow) style. Hot Vinyasa is a vigorous class, combining upper body strength, flexibility and cardio and is designed for students of all levels seeking a challenge.
RESTORATIVE
A deeply soothing yoga class designed to relax, renew and rejuvenate body & mind through simple yoga stretches along with resting restorative yoga poses. Props such as belts, sandbags, pillows, and blankets are used to fully support the body in order for the release of tension and stress. This class is for everyone advanced and beginnining practictioners of all ages. Props are available to utilize or buy if you do not have your own.
YIN FUSION
These classes will begin with a gentle flow to warm up the body and then move onto the mat for a yin practice. In class the student focuses on the quality of flexibility by quietly exploring longer holds of each posture for a deeper and more complete stretch. This kind of yoga practice encourages a deep release in the body and provides a context to discover the more subtle levels of physical practice. This class is suitable for both the new student and the advanced yogi.
MEDITATION
An opportunity to release stress and drop into meditation. This gentle meditation session is a breath focused session, and results in calmness of body and ease of the mind.
