I have had mental health sessions with about 8 different therapists in my lifetime. Some therapists I immediately realized I did not ‘click with’ and so did not go back to them. Other therapists I continued with for a few months, and in some instances, years. Most of the therapy I’ve had was in the ‘cognitive’ style and eventually I became quite good at it. This also included the ability to recognize a ‘good’ therapist (i.e., a therapist who would stop me or ‘challenge me’ after I said something which I myself knew should be ‘checked’ or pressed for further discussion) versus a ‘bad’ therapist (i.e., one who rarely challenged me or questioned statements by me that ‘obviously’ merited further examination). Donna, thankfully, fell into that first group, and was the best therapist I’ve ever worked with. I accomplished so much with her! (I only stopped seeing her because I moved out of state…) I would highly recommend her to anyone.
