I have procrastinated finding a good therapist for years because I saw so many who seemed absurdly woo-woo in their approach (I came to discuss my brain, not my aura), who didn't know anything about their job (if the only question you have for me is "how are you feeling today?" there is a problem), or who were flatly unintelligent.

When I finally needed to find a good therapist more than anything, I was referred to Amy, and I couldn't be more grateful that she was none of those things, and a great many other things I didn't even know I needed in a therapist.

She's no-nonsense, compassionate and empathetic, and is very good at gauging her client's personal level of need. I, for one, need to make fun of myself a little bit to get over my stuff, and she picked up on that quickly and cracks jokes in our therapy. I know she doesn't do that with all her clients, because it wouldn't work for them and how they need to operate, but she does it for me because it's what I need. That's just one small example of her adaptability and empathy; I could give a hundred. Over about a month she quickly adapted to exactly what I needed, and even from the first session she rapidly adjusted her approach to suit me.

I came to Amy at a time of great crisis, and that was about a year and a half ago. I have truly never been happier or more self-aware in my life, and it is largely due to Amy and her practical approach to analysis. She created a safe place for me to get all my stuff out there in the open, helped me figure out where it all came from, and systematically worked with me to develop techniques to handle those issues when they cropped up in my life from day to day. Not a single person in my life has changed very much, but I have, and that's made every relationship better. It's made ME better, and I can't thank Amy enough for her help in that.
