Guy Sapirstein, PhD
I provide short-term solution focused interventions for individuals, couples, and families for a variety of issues. In addition, I help families successfully navigate complex situations involving school aged children, young adults, adult family members, and elderly relatives. In those situations I help develop a strategy for dealing with agencies and other systems, as well as coordinate and provide private case management services. I often work with families who have relocated to a new city (or country) and help with the adjustment process. My approach is direct and change focused. I have a holistic approach and use a bio-psycho-social model.

For therapy, I have a short-term approach which means deciding what we will be working on and focusing mainly on that (although, obviously, at times we might talk about other issues). In doing complex case coordination I help interpret psychological test results, develop realistic expectations of the therapists, school services and child's progress. Overall, I help steer the "system" towards optimal functioning while keeping the "big picture" in focus.
