I called at 8:30 in the morning for an appointment for my 1-year-old Labradoodle who had an intestinal blockage. I was sure of this because I found a small portion of the mechanical pencil, she ingested the day before. I explained this to the receptionist. She said they could get me in at 3:30. She called me back after about an hour and said they could see me at 2:30. She called me again an hour before the appointment and said their Xray machine was broken, and they would have it repaired the next day. I said Well could they at least examine her they said yes bring her in. They did bloodwork and Dr. Schultz said that she was able to take an X ray and they would review it as soon as their machine was repaired. She told me to feed her a half a cup of dog chow. She ate maybe a teaspoon and threw it up a few hours later. I took her back the next morning and said at least she would be there for treatment as soon as they read the X ray. they called at noon and told me to pick her up. Dr. Schultz said they did not have the experience to do the emergency surgery. She referred me to Riverside in Durango, but they could not see her until the next morning at 7:30. She died in my arms at 5:30 AM. I am angry and distraught. I should have been told 2 days prior that they could not do the surgery she would need. I have taken my dogs there for 25 years, but I will never go back. I feel like their lack of compassion and procrastination were instrumental in the death of my dog. I am sure that I will never hear from them again, but I think their customers need to know.
