I brought my beloved 13 1/2 dog who battled diabetes for 2 1/2 years in today 5/19/16 as her time had come to leave this world. For over 2 1/2 years she gotten insulin injections twice daily. I asked for a peaceful passing and sedative. Dr. Cribb told me he did not put a IV catheter in the vein - did not need to waste the time. He was a good at getting in the vein - most of the time". He proceed to stick my precious dog with a large needle in her leg and she screamed in pain. He did not get the vein. Then again as my dog was NOT sedated he attempted again missing the vein x2. My dog screamed again. That is when I said, "what are you doing?" Dr. Cribb then told me I could get a refund and he was a PROFESSIONAL and did not appreciated being insulted. Can you imagine going through an experience like this? This is a very UNPROFESSIONAL man with a big macho ego and short fuse - shame on you for not knowing how to be compassionate and not euthanizing a dog the proper way. I left and went to Acres Mill Vet who were Professional, compassionate, put an IV in, gave my dog a sedative and a peaceful end. Thank you so much for being there for us doing the RIGHT thing.

This review is not to bash this Vet Clinic, or this Veterinarian. I will admit that there are probably a lot of VCC clients who are very happy with the service provided to them. My wife had been bringing her pets to this clinic for 15 years and was one of the very first patients of the clinic. This review is based on OUR latest experience and ONLY OUR latest experience. This review is also based on "FACTS", which are Un-Disputable. I will also list both my "Opinion" as well as "Common Sense" statements in this review. If these opinions and statements are wished to be debated then I am fully up for that debate. This review will end with a brief statement.

‪#‎FACT‬ - My wife brought our 4 year old 4lb Yorkie named Lucy to Veterinary Care Center because she had a broken tooth and a COUPLE of other teeth that my wife felt needed to be checked out as well.

#FACT – Upon arriving with Lucy my wife asked to speak with the Vet and was told “He’s still asleep”.

#FACT – My wife pointed out the tooth she was concerned with as well as 2 others that she thought felt loose to her. She said she would let the Vet decide whether or not they needed to be extracted.

#FACT - My wife was asked if she wanted the Vet to contact her Prior to the procedure being done.

#FACT - My wife said “No. I know Lucy needs a couple of extractions and I trust him". - ‪#‎OPINION‬ - 1) There was no reason for my wife Not to trust him because she was one of his first patients when he opened his practice over 15 years ago and we never had any concerns in the past. 2) She "ASSUMED" that, IF NEEDED, the only teeth that would be pulled, other than the broken one, would have been the couple that she noticed.

#FACT – My wife was told that Lucy would probably be taken care of around 12pm.

#FACT – When my wife called back to see if they were finished she was told they were just taking her back for her procedure. This was at 1pm.

#FACT – My wife received a call a short time later and was told Lucy would be ready at 4:30pm. My wife asked how many teeth ended up being pulled. (She thought at least the 1 but possibly the other 2 as well).

#FACT - She was told that the Vet pulled 13 teeth! Including ALL of the lower front and ALL BUT 2 of the upper front, from canine to canine!

#FACT - My wife became extremely upset and the staff member she spoke to on the phone said “I would be mad if he took out 13 of my dogs teeth and didn't call me either”

#FACT – My wife asked to speak to the Vet at that time and was told “He’s gone to lunch”.

#FACT – My wife then asked how much our bill was and was told “I don’t know. He hasn’t given me the charges”. My wife said “You better call him and have something ready when I get there because I'm coming now!” She was then told “He won’t be back for a while”.

#FACT – Upon arrival my wife was extremely upset and told them she did not want to see the Vet and asked for ALL of our active Pet’s records (which is 7!)

#FACT – My wife was then given our bill, which was for $570.00 (she was told that she wasn’t being charged for all 13 extractions). This bill was paid in full by my wife at that time. My wife asked where the charges for pain meds were and she was told “She shouldn’t need any pain meds. We gave her a pain shot. She should be fine tomorrow”

#FACT - Our dog was NOT placed on any Antibiotics by the Vet. - #OPINION - You would THINK if a dog's mouth was so bad that 13 TEETH had to be pulled that it would mean she would need to be on some sort of Antibiotics, wouldn't you?

#FACT - Our dog was NOT prescribed any pain medication. - #OPINION - You would also think that a 4lb dog that just had 13 TEETH PULLED would PROBABLY require some sort of pain medication, wouldn't you?

#FACT - NO X-rays were performed to determine if these teeth actually NEEDED to be extracted - #OPINION - It was only the opinion and "EXPERTISE" of the Vet that made that determination.

#FACT - My wife consulted 2 separate Vets and both have stated that X-rays would need to done to ACURATELY determine if indeed these teeth needed to be pulled. - #OPINION - Is it possible that her teeth were SO bad that in fact it could be determined that they needed to be pulled without x-rays? Absolutely. But if they were THAT bad there would have been signs of that in her gums and antibiotics would have been required.

#FACT – Both Vets consulted stated that pain medications should have been prescribed.

#FACT - My dog began passing blood not long after these teeth were pulled. - #OPINION - Probably as a result of the trauma and stress

#FACT - My wife placed our dog under the care of one of the 2 Vets she consulted.

#FACT - Our new Vet stated that he could see no recession of the gums or deterioration that would signify that her teeth needed to be pulled.

#FACT - Our new Vet diagnosed our dog with TRAUMA INDUCED COLITIS!

#FACT - Our new Vet placed our dog on Antibiotics

#FACT - Our new Vet placed our dog on pain medications

#FACT - Our new Vet stated that our dog was TOO SMALL and Young for such a large amount of teeth to be pulled at one time!

#FACT – My wife started to go over all of our pet’s records that were given to her and she found, instead of our pet’s medical records, what she was actually given was our previous BILLS and NOT their actual medical records.

#FACT – My wife called back to VCC and said she wanted our RECORDS and she was told “That’s everything we have”. My wife also told them that Lucy was under the care of another Vet and that she was on antibiotics and pain meds for this issue.

#FACT – My wife received a message on her cell phone stating that they found our pet’s medical records and they will be ready in 2 days. - #OPINION – So records that were FOUND will be ready in 2 DAYS? Why couldn’t those records that were FOUND be released immediately upon being found? Could it be because they were just then being written?

#FACT – Later we received a message on our home answering machine in which the VCC employee stated “We’ve called in some pain meds for Wayland. I was surprised he didn’t prescribe any pain meds. He was concerned about how she looked. This was a complete oversight on Jeff’s part” The person this message was for had a different name than my wife or I and the pet’s name was also different than ours. The message was for a Ms. FOWLER and the pet’s name was “Wayland”. Our name is MROSS and our pet’s name is LUCY. - #OPINION – It would seem that they got us confused with another one of their patients. One who they also didn’t give pain meds to that obviously needed them after a major procedure!

#FACT - My wife contacted the State Boards and filed a complaint about our former Vet AFTER consulting with the 2 other Vets.

#FACT - The Vet referred to my wife as "NEUROTIC" on his facebook page - #OPINION - Is this because she had the NERVE to question your "EXPERTISE" in this matter? Maybe it's because she turned you in to the boards? Does turning in someone who you feel mistreated our animal make them NEUROTIC?????

#FACT - The Vet stated that a "BIG PART" of why my wife was upset is because of the bill she had to pay.

#FACT - We have spent THOUSAND and THOUSANDS of dollars in this clinic and have had NO issues or qualms about paying for services that the Vet stated were necessary.

#CLOSING STATEMENT - Over the years we have referred numerous friends to VCC and many of those referrals, for various reasons, have since stopped taking their pets there. We stuck with Dr Cribb and for years we trusted him with ALL of our little ones. We now wish we had opened our eyes when our friends would tell us their horror stories instead of blindly trusting him with the care of our pets. These are members of our family. They are our children. We would do anything for them, which is why we spent so many thousands of dollars for treatments over the years at Dr Cribb’s suggestion. Unfortunately, this incident has made us question EVERY previous decision we've made concerning our current, and former, pets. All we can do at this point is move on to a new Veterinarian and try to learn from this mistake. This way we don't make the same mistake again (by blindly put our faith in someone) and allowing our pets to suffer as a result.
