I just had a terrible Veterinary experience with Dr. Williams (Norco Equine Veterinary Hospital) and I thought I would warn others. I hired him to do a pre-purchase horse exam and instead I got a piece of paper with writing on it that I can't read and no mention of a horse with a giant "veterinary missed" cribbing problem! I think he and Matthew Rissman (agent/owner for the horse) took advantage of me. I asked Matthew if the horse cribbed/wind sucked and he said he did not. Totally untrue!
I then purchased the horse and he was delivered to me. Within 10 min., he cribbed/windsucked. But the trailer had driven off and money had exchanged hands. So now the "cribber" was mine.
Prior to my Vet coming over, a very knowledgeable friend and I looked at this horses teeth and even I could tell he cribbed by seeing his short little teeth on top. Also according to my Vet his age is anywhere from 15-20 yrs and not the 8-10 yrs Dr. Williams had thought he was. There is such a giant mismatch between the visual of his top and bottom teeth that even I now know what to look for. I have to assume that Dr. Williams has seen a number of cribbers in his working years. His expertise failed me on this critical level as well as on his age. I could have learned so much from Dr. Williams. Why was he not more helpful or professional that day?
I contracted with Dr. Williams to do a thorough Vet check that I don't think I got based on the fact that his teeth show that he cribs and he examined his teeth and missed that. I should have had more information and would have at that point, been happy to have paid for what I received. Hopefully I can make others aware of my mistakes so that it will not happen to them.
I will never use or recommend Dr. Michael Williams or Norco Equine Veterinary Hospital!
