WARNING: STAY AWAY!!!!!

FYI: I gave one star because I had to.

I have been going to this vet since the early 2000's. They have treated my fur babies to the fullest. I feel they had very professional policies back then and I was very pleased with everything they have done for me in the past. BUT, things have taken a turn for the worse. There is a new owner in town and she is ALL about money!!! I thought people became a vet for the animals not the money but this vet has changed my prospective on that. The affordable rates that stood in place for many years has now come to an end. Not only was the care for the animals priority in the past, but the cost stayed steady. The only thing the new owner cares about is money! A simple check-up cost is now ranging between $50 - $75... its a quote now not a price. I guess the price depends on how much effort they need to put into your pet & then they decide how much to charge you at the end of your visit? I dunno, but I never heard of such a thing. Also they own St Francis Animal Hospital in Tamaqua. I took my current fur baby there to be treated for a UTI... they didn't give me enough meds to take it away completely... so they sent me to Lehighton Animal Hospital to get more meds and they charged me once again for an emergency vet visit and more meds. (12 noon weekday) So totaling the two visits it cost me $520 to treat a simple UTI. smh
Now onto my biggest complaint....... my baby broke a house window and cut her arm very badly. I couldn't get the bleeding to stop so I rushed her to this Vet in Lehighton and called on my way there (10am weekday) I was treated like a bank, not a pet owner. They told me that I was to pay up front $800 to even allow my baby to be seen!!! WHAT!!!!!! you want money from me and if I don't pay it my baby can't even be seen. TRUE STORY! All a while I was driving alone and trying to keep pressure on my baby's cut that was still bleeding badly. I'm not a Vet, not even close, but I know that as a medical professional I should at least take a look at what is really going on with the pet first before I would even dare to demand a upfront payment of $800!!!! I was loss for words. Not to mention the receptionist was very rude and told me at first they were booked solid and I might have a long wait. ummm ok this is a animal HOSPITAL I thought not just a vet that is appointment only. Last I checked emergencies come first? WOW I'm mind boggled!!!! As far as I'm concerned I am done entertaining this Vet with my wallet. My baby is OK & was fixed up at her new Vet and the cost was half of what they wanted! We are very very very pleased with my choice of finding better care!!!!
