My 3 year old healthy dog died after complications from a surgery here. I spoke with the owner and attempted to address my concerns about postsurgical management and lack of basic supplies. I was met with hostility and, at one point told to "shut up or he would hang up the phone." I was shocked by this lack of professionalism. I was upset because my cherished dog had died but was not swearing or crying or hysterical. He did not offer condolences until it was pointed out that he had not done so. As a physician, I am appalled by this behavior in a fellow health care provider.
