Services Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Bay State Veterinary Emergency Services provides emergency care of the highest quality for your pet. We always have at least one doctor in the hospital specifically for the treatment of emergency cases. BSVES is able to get answers quickly, as we are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. Our surgical capabilities allow for treatment of almost any surgical emergency.

Patients seen through our emergency service are treated by one of our emergency veterinarians, all of whom have the experience and capability of handling emergency situations. All of our emergency doctors have completed a rigorous post-graduate internship focusing on emergency medicine. Most of our doctors also work half of their time at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, where they benefit from their interactions with specialists in medicine, surgery, radiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, avian/exotic medicine, and especially emergency and critical care.

In addition to caring for dogs and cats, we also provide emergency care for hamsters, ferrets, rats, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles (including turtles), and other exotic pets. Our technicians and doctors are experienced at handling emergencies for many kinds of pets and can consult with a board-certified avian/exotics specialist when a rare species is involved or when we have an especially complex case.

Copies of the entire medical record will be sent to your primary care veterinarian, and he or she will receive phone and fax updates throughout your pet’s care.
