nt room by myself, but they eventually returned. They go out of their way to make everyone feel equally respected and cared for. I've seen favoritism at some of the other places I've been, and I really appreciate the extra effort they make to avoid that here. One of the first things I noticed about this animal hospital was the level of detail and attention to make the building handicap-accessible. They have handicap parking and a very good wheelchair ramp. Even the bathrooms were designed to be accessible with doors wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. You could tell they really made an effort to accommodate people with all different needs. Just as a side note, this animal ER is really conveniently located and is close to everything. They were ready for my pet and me right after we arrived, and because our dog was so badly injured, took us back ahead of other people already waiting with pets with minor illness or injury--just like at any human ER. We spent less than ten minutes in the waiting room, and the doctor dropped working on 3 other patients she was already seeing to tend to our much more urgent situation. They were upfront about the high cost of the necessary treatment because Benji was in circulatory shock and had multiple bad wounds with at least one broken bone, and offered several payment choices to us. They also offered humane euthanasia if those costs were too high for our limited financial situation, so that Benji wouldn't have to suffer a slow painful death without treatment. We were not able to provide our beloved pet with the full recommended treatment (oh, how I wish we had planned ahead and gotten pet insurance or set aside a special credit card in advance, just for such emergencies!!!!) The doctor was very understanding, and said a less expensive course of treatment had lower odds of success but "might" work. She was also upfront that it very well might not. We asked her to try the cheaper option, and thankfully, got lucky. we think mostly because of the fact that they saw him so fast and because of Dr. Armes's obviously superior skills, experience, and compassion. Benji still has a limp and some scars, but at least he survived and is back to his happy life at home, thanks to the TLC of Dr. Deborah Armes and the staff at Huntsville's Animal Emergency Clinic.
