For therapy to be successful, the primary needed component is for the client to be motivated and courageous to journey through unknown territory of self-discovery.
The primary responsibilities of the therapist is to listen, be non-judgmental, have compassion, ability to identify the core of conflictual issues, and be directive in helping the client to embark on their own self-healing and self-transformation journey. At the same time to help the client become proactive and empowered in attaining control in their lives…to have freedom of choices. To become their own “therapist.” I believe that everyone can tap into themselves and be their own healer.
My therapeutic approach may vary given the client’s clinical need, however, my preferences are EMDR Therapy utilizing Psychodynamics, Cognitive-Behavioral, Family Systems, and/or Behavioral Therapy.
As beneficial as psychology can be, it can have its limits. In my professionally and personally experience, incorporating one’s spirituality seems to contribute towards enhancing complete therapeutic healing. If a client chooses, I help integrate him/her own spiritual believes/values (non-religious or religious) within their therapeutic process or find their mindful/prayerful place within.
