Neither was I nor my psychotherapist impressed by Rose Phelps.
She is not a psychotherapist as she claims to be.
She is a family therapist who charges like a psychotherapist though.
Lots of turnovers with her group.
Group members are hostile and Rose is not able to handle conflicts!
Rose is not impartial and takes sides with group members.
Rose does not offer a safe place to work through trauma related symptoms.
Rose requires group members to have a therapist aside from the group, and yet, most members do not have any, which makes it very difficult for growth.
Rose, despite good intentions does not have what it takes to work with Trauma patients, and in my experience was very detrimental to my own survival and healing process.
Rose does not offer support outside group time. She will offer EMDR for over $200 a pop, but won't deal with the matter at hand.
Rose's understanding of Trauma is not academically sound. She has given group members false and conflicting information about trauma.
Rose does not seem to have been able to transcend her own trauma and it comes to a cost to her patients who trust she'd be neutral and able to offer some understanding of trauma related symptoms and misconceptions.
Rose does not check assumptions nor maladaptive transferences. People lash out and it gets out of control.
Do not put yourself in this situation. It has been detrimental to me and to many others who tried to heal with her. Not worse it!
