Hypnosis is a way of bypassing the conscious mind so as to prevent it from interfering with the process of change. Humans actually go into hypnosis on their own every day. I believe that all hypnosis is self hypnosis. I lead the client into hypnosis intentionally, so that correct suggestions can be given to the subconscious mind, thereby helping them achieve the change they desire. Hypnotherapy goes a bit deeper, to release negative imprints and replace them with positive feelings, thoughts and actions. EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is often used as a very effective adjunct to hypnosis or hypnotherapy. All of these processes, and any healing therapies I use are easy, safe and pleasant. You will not blurt out any secrets or be tricked or fooled. The most common side effects of hypnosis are less stress and better sleep.

When our otherwise healthy, vivacious 15-year old daughter was unexpectedly diagnosed with Crohn’s, we were shocked and quickly sought multiple opinions to confirm the diagnosis. One of the doctors with whom we visited (a well respected Harvard Medical School grad) encouraged us to explore an integrative medical treatment approach.
We are a very health conscious family that pays lots of attention to nutrition and exercise, and when a health issue does arise, we seek traditional care. Yet, we were intrigued by this integrative medical suggestion and asked the doctor to be more specific.
He recommended seeing a traditional gastroenterologist and follow their guidance on prescription medicine, but also advised us to incorporate several herbal supplements and focus on the mind-body connection. For the latter he specified, breathing exercises and medical hypnosis.
We were completely unfamiliar with medical hypnosis and had it not been so highly recommended by such an accomplished physician, we would have never considered it.
Under Karen Peterson’s care, our daughter had a series of three medical hypnosis sessions. She continues to listen to the CDs Karen provided on a nightly basis and finds them to be very calming and relaxing. Also, I believe she also felt empowered when listening to them and saw it as an opportunity to be actively involved in her healing.
Six months after receiving a diagnosis of Crohn’s (which was approximately three months after first experiencing symptoms with no accurate diagnosis) our daughter is now symptom free and for the first time her blood lab results show no signs of inflammation. She is leading an active life, still under medical supervision and still listening to her medical hypnosis CDs.

We firmly belief the integrative approach to her treatment is the reason our daughter has responded so well to treatment and are cautiously optimistic about a healthy future for her! We are so grateful to all of her medical providers and especially to Karen - - medical hypnosis is probably the only treatment modality that has NO negative side effects and only positive ones for our daughter!

Karen made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting her All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. I will absolutely return. I had an amazing experience.
I went in for smoking, and not only worked on this but the main issue in my life is my never ending pain in my neck. I have had three spine surgeries and I was in constant pain. Karen said that I needed to think of my pain and put it on a shelf for later.
I honestly thought to my self, this person has no idea what chronic pain is.
The next day I was doing the wonderful relaxing technique I had learned and thought okay pain I am throwing you out the window. I went from an eight on my pain scale to about a four.
I am amazed at how much better I feel in just one session. I am looking forward to my next one.
