I took my 9 yo son to see Dr. Bone. My boy had an anger management issue. Dr. Bone first listened to me for about 15 minutes, and then spent the rest of the time with my boy alone. In the beginning, he sensed my anxiety and addressed it right away, which lifted my burden. He also told my boy that he wasn't there because he is broken. He was there to learn how to show anger in an acceptable manner, since being angry is a natural & normal feeling. I could tell he was relieved as well. After the one-on-one session with Dr. Bone, the change was dramatic. My child really learned how to show his anger in an acceptable manner.
We went to the follow up visit and after that the doctor told us he doesn't believe in looking for problems and continuing sessions after sessions. My son learned how to deal with anger, and he doesn't need to come back any more! As he was the first psychologist I ever visited, I feel very lucky to find an honest, effective, and caring doctor.
When my older one hits the preteen age and starts to have problems, I plan to take him to Dr. Bone and work with him early before the problem gets out of control.
