My children were patients of Dr Healey since my son (who is now 8) was 7 months old. We were very happy at the office, until we had an emergency siuation. My son was diagnosed with strep throat on a Monday, his fevers were not going down (103-104)- I called the office numerous times from Monday evening to Wednesday early morning- and was told it was normal & to call again Thursday if he wasn't better. I told Healey he wasn't himself, lethargic, not peeing & high fevers- also vomitting & had a swollen gland. She continued to tell me it was normal seeing he just got on a RX. On Wednesday of the same week when he woke up his neck was completly swollen & his fever read 106! When I called the office asap they had me go into the office. I carried him into the office- and he started to fall asleep on the table- I ran & got a nurse & told them his eyes were not normal- they ran right in & cooled him down. The doctor on sent us to SS Hospital right away. I carried my son out of the office...they never offered an ambulance. I wasn't in the right state of mind to even think of asking for one- but after I thought of it, they should have had one waiting for me. I went to SSH and was sent via ambulance to Children's Boston. They informed me that they told Healey's office that we were being admitted to Children's. I spent 8 horrendous days at Children'n with my son without 1 call from Healey or even the office checking up on my son. He was discharged after 8 long days half of them being spent up in the ICU- he ended up with toxic shock syndrome. Never once did I receive a phone call from the office. When I called her office the day before we left the hospital, Healey told me she apologized but she was "off" over the weekend & was just getting back to her work. I was appalled. I feel that I need to get my horrifying experience with her & her office out there. I would never want to know this could ever happen to another child. It was the worst experience of my child & my husband & I's life.
