Dr. Sue Mitra is a board-certified Doctor of Internal Medicine.


Dr. Mitra has been practicing in Brevard County since 2002. Dr. Mitra received her medical degree from the University of Calcutta, India. She received a special merit scholarship and obtained a gold medal for securing the top rank in her class throughout her medical school curriculum. Dr. Mitra subsequently performed a year of clinical research in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, FL and published articles in journals. She then completed three years of residency training from University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. Mitra is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine. Her goal is to treat all patients with dignity, professionalism, compassion and care. Dr. Mitra has served as the President of Brevard Indo-American Medical and Dental Association in 2009.



Dr. Mitra has hospital privileges at Holmes Regional Medical Center and Wuesthoff Health Systems, Melbourne.

When you need someone on your side, Dr. Mitra is NOT that person. At times you may need your Dr. for things that happen outside the medical office. When my mother had a car accident last year, Mitra’s office would not see her and instead sent her to a hack chiropractor, the last thing she needed with a spinal fracture. This year when mom needed her to provide very basic information for her assisted living facility in another state, Mitra again refused to help out. My mother was a patient of hers for 15 years. Find a Dr. who actually cares.

Dr. Mitra is certainly intelligent and hard working. However she seems to lack the one thing that can sometimes help patients... "compassion". My grandfather was a patient of Dr. Mitra's until he passed away at 92. He never had a bad word to say about her. He always followed her instructions and went through a battery of test which is common for seniors. As he reached the twilight of his life and was in the hospital next to her office, I found it interesting that she couldn't make not even one trip to the hospital to comfort him or show any interest at all. She was his doctor for many years. I think she's competent and a good doctor if you don't mind a "Cold Fish".
