About

ADD/ADHD Massage Therapy

There are many treatments for ADHD, including medication such as Ritalin. While the choice to medicate your child is an incredibly personal one, there is a nonmedication intervention that can help; massage therapy.
Regular massage therapy for children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD has been shown to improve their short-term mood state, their ability to focus and improve their behavior in the classroom. Because children with ADHD have trouble staying still for prolonged periods of time, studies report that two 15-minute massage sessions a week show significant improvement in ADHD symptoms. Parents are encouraged to learn various massage techniques that they can perform at home with their children creating an emotional bond.
As a Registered Nurse and Certified Massage Therapist, I believe in the value of diverse views and approaches to ADD/ADHD, its causes, effects and treatment. I promote and support professional based evidence, practices and approaches to ADD/ADHD. My goal is to combine the best of these aspects of conventional and complementary practices to achieve the highest quality outcome for each of my client's needs.
