About

Edie Brokaw, LCSW,CSAC

Welcome! For 18 years. I have dedicated myself to providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. I offer my clients a relationship that is safe, respectful and non-judgemental. I help you build on your strengths so that you may quickly overcome the problems you are facing. We will work together in a goal-oriented way, using your past experiences to gain insight into your present reality. Once we understand what is going on, we can then move towards making the desired changes in your day-to-day life.
The decision to contact a psychotherapist is not always an easy one but, after the first session, people often feel a sense of relief and are glad that they did.
Our sessions together will be conversations. You will have the time to express yourself in whatever way you feel comfortable, but I will also be active in sharing my thoughts and impressions.
I offer a no-charge 15 minute sessions to see if we are a "good fit".

My experience with Edie is horrible! So much that I've been told by other professional social workers/counselors/psychotherapists that I have a clear malpractice law suit. But if I do that, I put myself and a lot of details of my life on display. I have PTSD, so it's not something I'm willing to pursue AT THIS TIME. She agreed to be my therapist, my husband's and our marriage counselor all at the same time. My husband was having an affair at the time. He later told me, that she told him NOT to tell me about his affair even though he told her that he wanted to tell me. Edie told my husband NOT to tell me, that I couldn't handle it. Next she told me, with out out my even asking her, that he definitely was NOT having an affair and to stick it out in my marriage. At a later time, she asked me if my husband was "well endowed" which I thought was completely inappropriate, but kept going because she was recommend by a friend of a friend. I thought, this is weird, but ok maybe I just need to be more open and relaxed. Then as my personal therapist, she asked me about my life story, perfectly fine. But a few weeks later, Edie asked me what was my father's current health condition. My father committed suicide when I was 7 years old. I already told her this... was supposed to be a major part of my therapy (aside from my marital issues). Which all goes back to my having PTSD, my father's death is what caused PTSD for me in the 1st place. Prior to this incident, Edie belittled my sexual abuse because it was not by my father but by someone else. By telling me of an "at least it wasn't...." story. I never went back to her after that. I have since been to other professionals, I am better. But I really don't want anyone to have to go through what I did with this so called therapist!

Edie was not the best call for me and my families ADHD needs. I will not be back and warn others to find another provider that actually listens to her clients.

She also has ADHD and has an incredibly difficult time staying on track.
