I was a patient there in 1991. Along with 8 other canadians that were sent there. Our passions in life is what was used to lure us there. I had witnessed and experienced abusive care like no other. Although there were times, the staff was nice. It was for a fair price, our freedom of speech and will. Manipulation was the game. Various medications were used on us that were not even approved on the medical market, some of which created allergic reactions and major side effects creating bizarre behaviors among the other teenagers. I had witnessed many who reacted to the effects strapped to beds and given needles to sedate them. Code reds and code yellows were frequent there. Finally after 6 months, the plug was pulled on the program for the canadians due to Anacapa sucking OHIP while giving no results for the teenagers they had taken into their care. We all went home, scarred but our parents truly believed we were given the best care possible.

Doctors only care about the rewards in life rather than the true purpose of their profession. That is why the world is so corrupt, because of greed.

With the exception of a select few that I met during my time in Anacapa Hospital, the desk staff, the 2 from the rock band Onyx and the other techs including Robert Libermann, have my fond respects for their work and treated the other canadian teens like human beings, but for the rest of the staff, psychiatrists and therapists, we were all considered lab rats.
