Just moved here & looking for a new chiropractor. Called Dr. Amari’s office and stated that I’d like the general information that would be helpful for a potential new patient: number of doctors in the practice, intake process, pricing structure, if they accept my insurance, etc. I further stated that I receive chiropractic treatment because of a specific health condition, and I wondered if Dr Amari uses the same technique my former chiropractor uses. Receptionist didn’t provide any of the information I requested, except that “we only NEED one doctor and he doesn’t use that technique.” I replied that the technique itself wasn’t critical but that it would be helpful to know if Dr. Amari was familiar with my diagnosis or had experience with patients with my condition. She put me on hold and Dr. Amari answered, harshly asking, “What, EXACTLY, do you want to know, Miss?” I explained my diagnosis, asking if he had experience with it. He was utterly rude, stating, "Well I've ONLY been in business FORTY-TWO years, so do you THINK that MAYBE I have some EXPERIENCE?" I stated that I wasn't doubting his capability but simply needed to know if he was familiar with my condition and whether his experience would benefit me. He replied even more rudely dismissing me by saying, "You know, MISS, this just CLEARLY isn't going to work," and hanging up.
I’ve never experienced a doctor that faulted a patient for being diligent and asking important, pertinent questions regarding their health care, much less a doctor who was so blatantly rude but he was right: It ISN'T going to work for me to have a doctor who believes it’s unacceptable for a patient to ask about patient care and doctor experience, especially when that doctor is also rude, dismissive and, frankly, an arrogant smartass. RUN -- don't walk -- away from this jerk and DON'T LOOK BACK. (Disclaimer: This was several hours before they closed, and I actually called back to ask if Amari was just having a bad day or what I had done to incite rude treatment but they refused to answer the phone. Jerk status confirmed....so they get a review instead.)
