TO ALL- SORRY IT IS SO LONG, BUT IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET AND ARE CONSIDERING GOING TO B.C. ANIMAL HOSPITAL- YOU MUST READ THIS FO THEIR OWN GOOD

One day I noticed the lymph nodes on my boxer had swollen up and he was starting slow down. Doing research first I found that boxers are super prone to cancer and more specifically lymphoma. Before I could give him cancer treatment with chemo and radiation, I needed a confirmation diagnosis from a vet to move forward.

I brought him to Dr. Sova and I was an absolute mess, worried to the tenth degree. He came in to do an aspiration of the lymph node and I started asking him questions, he immediately stopped me in sentence and said "one thing at a time, let's see the results first". He didn't talk to me about what it could be, what treatment options there were, or anything like that. He did the aspiration and I watched him double guess himself as if he made a mistake with it. He shrugged his shoulders, gave the needle to the aid, and said he'd call me TOMORROW with the results and walked out of the room. He didn't say another word to his obviously distraught customer. Almost a week goes by and still no call, so I called and asked why I was told I would have the results in a day when that wasn't the case. I found out the test was inconclusive ( I guess the shrugging of shoulders proved to be right). The women behind the desk gave me a real attitude saying and i quote " Well I guess it took longer didn't it, now do you want me to reschedule the test or not". I rescheduled and they did another aspiration. Same story again, did it and said they'd call me tomorrow. Again 5 days go by, except this time I called every day and had to leave a message for the Dr with no call back. I got someone the 5th day and was told again the aspiration was inconclusive!!

By this time, my dog went from having minimal signs to barely functioning. He wouldnt eat and was clearly in pain. They suggested doing a procedure under anesthesia. I scheduled it for a few days later and dropped him off early morning. At around 10 am i get a call that bc of his liver enzymes, they couldn't do the procedure so they were doing another aspiration!!! The same procedure that didn't work twice before that I paid around $500 for. Again I was told I would have the results in one day. Again the aspiration came back inconclusive. This time an entire week goes by and my patience and forgiveness had reached it's end. I was livid that they tell you that you'd know in a day and make you sit around worrying and waiting. I finally got the women on the phone and was told they left me a voicemail, which they clearly did not. Not only did I sit by the phone waiting, but I have an Iphone and anyone with one knows they have visual voicemail so you can see on a screen anyone or number that left you a message w/o having to call your v/m. I couldn't believe they were trying to lie about leaving me a message. She then says " Well let's move past that, it doesn't matter, do you want to schedule another procedure, we can use a different anesthesia this time?" Although i was so mad, I just wanted to get my dog diagnosed so I could move on with treatment, so I scheduled it for the following monday morning.

Now almost a month had gone by, I had spent over $1,200, they had not diagnosed my dog yet, did 3 wrong procedures, and my dog was severely ill with days remaining. I had talked to a friend and he recommended a vet highly. I called the new vet on a saturday at 6 pm. He stayed on the phone with me for almost 2 hours explaining what it could be and possible treatment. He said that I could bring my dog in now if I wanted at 8pm! I rushed there and he did the procedure w/o any anesthesia! He asked if I had the time to wait as he could look at it and although he wasn't an oncologist, he could tell if it was lymphoma. Sadly it was. The core sample he took was sent out to the lab to see what stage it was in so we knew what treatment to do. HERE IS THE KICKER, the month that I wasted with Dr. Sova had allowed the cancer to spread and grow so much, that even with the most aggressive chemo, my baby's chances were so, so small. IF I HAD BROUGHT MY DOG TO THIS OTHER VET FIRST AND NOT SOVA, I COULD HAVE TREATED HIM WITH A HUGE SUCCESS RATE AND SAVED HIS LIFE!

To end, I never called Sova to let them know I had gone to see another vet and still had my appointment for monday morning. I purposely did so b/c I wanted them to call me and say " Where is the dog, you had an appointment for 8 am" in which i would respond saying that I left them a voicemail sarcastically and obviously lying, just the same way that they did to me. WELL FOLKS, DR SOVA AND HIS OFFICE NEVER EVEN CALLED ME TO SEE WHY I DIDN'T COME IN FOR MY APPOINTMENT, that's how much they care. I am making everyone aware of this b/c I am hoping that I can save someone's beloved pet by avoiding Dr Sova and his office. In the whole month, I saw the Dr for a mere 2 minutes, he saw I was obviously upset, worried sick, and had a ton of questions. He never took the time to talk to me, he never cared- AVOID THEM!.
